SSPA,
SUMMER SCHOOL ON PHARMACEUTICAL ANALYSIS
School
general structure
Since
2008 the Summer School on Pharmaceutical Analysis
(SSPA) has changed its structure and will cover
a three-year program on the most advanced analytical
methodologies involved into the launch of new drugs, starting from
the discovery phase (hit identification, structure-property relationships),
through drug development (lead optimisation, ADMET studies, biomarkers
identification) ending with formulation quality control and validation.
New cycles will follow in which the most recent analytical topics
in the specific phase will be introduced.
In
September 2008, the
SSPA first year was held at the Rimini Campus branch
under the auspices of the University of Bologna and was focused
on ‘ADVANCED ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES
IN DRUG DISCOVERY’. (click
here for the first year program and free access to tutorials).
In 2009, the second
year of SSPA cycle will be focused on ‘ADVANCED
ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES IN DRUG DEVELOPMENT’.
Specifically, second year main topics will be: 1) ADME/PK as part
of a rational approach to drug discovery and 2) Biomarkers in drug
discovery and development. SSPA 2009 will be held in Milan under
the auspices of the University of Milan. (click
here for further information).
Finally
in 2010, the school
program will deal with the most advanced analytical methods involved
in the last phase of drug discovery and development, which is the
pharmaceutical . The SSPA 2010 will be therefore focused on "ADVANCED
ANALYTICAL METHODOLOGIES IN DRUG PRE-FORMULATION AND QUALITY CONTROL".
